Mowing and a look around
29 comments
what a perfect morning for mowing the lawn..and i thought id show anyone that is interested around my space..
the mowing takes about an hour on the sit on and usually means emptying the thing 16-20 times..but i always love it when its finished and go and have a mooch round..
I have a few fruit trees, I call it the Orchard but it isnt really..the apples do well but the cherry and the plums not so..although there is a damson in with the tree in the centre and thats does great
The lawn is raised above the house and courtyard, orginally it would have been a field, there was a dutch barn in there when i moved in, i took it down..

Your garden is lovely Skipscanda! great open views, and a grand place for a mooch, as you say!! No wonder it takes you so long to mow! ;0)

What a wonderful place to look out on...I bet any children that visit have a great run around! It would seem a necessity to have a ride-on mower for all that grass, Skipscandal.

What a lovely plot of land! And so well kept - I can just imagine you buzzing around on your mower enjoying all that space and the trees! It's rather like my lifelong dream ... "Where's Nariz?" "In the garden." "Yes, but WHERE in the garden?" Love the dog too! :o)

Thought I would have a look at your space - its rather magnificent and you're right you could have such a great productive garden ala 18th century. I wonder if there are any books that give a hint what people used to grow then.

Lovely to see Meg enjoying the sunshine , the lawn looks great skips , I grew a Damson tree from a pip it was about a metre tall and 16 years old and never did have any fruit, last year we decided to have it out and put it in the drive to give it one last chance fingers crossed it might shock it into producing some fruit ! our apples/ pears / plums are loaded with blossom this year i'm hoping to get a good crop , we've never had much luck with pears .......

What a lovely garden Guy, I always wanted a lawn big enough to justify a sit on mower. Hope you had a lovely weekend out there.

I admit it, I'm envious! What a lovely space to work in. Of course if it were mine, I could probably have the National Collection of Clematis in there, and possibly the whole of David Austin's catalogue too! Fantastic trees and lawn, plenty of space for picknicking!!

I could have a couple of national collections, Echinaceas and another daisy member in there! I'd be as happy as happy could be living in a fabulous place like that!

oi dont judge a man by his acreage..
thank you everyone for your lovely comments and pleased you all like the space..it is hard work keeping it in some kind of shape but no more than anyone's garden really..
the thing about the place is yes you could do so much more and there are plenty of spaces but could i maintain it all..i know the answer is a resounding no..
all the suggestions and comments are very much appreciated..thank you

No wonder you need a ride on mower Skip with the enormous garden you have. I bet your dog loves all that space. Is it all laid to lawn with fruit trees or do you have any flowers in it ?
