iwas thinking of using corrugated perspex for the roof,does it matter if it has uv protection properties.do plants need uv light/rays to help growth.?

Glass doesn't let UV rays through either, that's why you don't tan indoors next to a window. So It should be fine. I assume you are going to use the stuff that conservatories often use for their roofs, so, again, that will be fine. Make sure it's properly fixed and can't blow off.
