I've just gone out to collect seed pods from my poppies, and found many of them are sprouting. Is it possible that with the weather being so wet, (in Argyll), that the seeds are germinating inside the pods?

That's amazing! Never seen that before. They really do want to grow, don't they? At least you know the seed is fertile! Hope you find enough dried seed on the plant to start another generation.

Why not pop the germinating seed heads into pots and let them get on with it...

Unusual picture, Sophie, and yes, the seeds have germinated already inside the seedpod. This has been a difficult year for collecting seed with the seed heads being wet so much of the time.
