Haberlea rhodopensis

These are very nice.I don't think acid soil is required,just a humous rich,moisture retaining but well drained soil,preferably in a north facing crevice.Good luck with it.

well I said it was for a woodland bit so in a crevice wont fit either. The Rhs book said acidic/neutral and I am on chalk.

RHS says 'Acid, Alkaline or Neutrall' so you should be ok.

ah which source did you use wagger, I used the A-Z edited by Chris bricknell. But if a newer book says chalk then I will keep my fingers crossed. still have to create a crevice for it though lol.

Ihave a book by Alan Bloom ,that says this plant needs and loves lime!! What is certain,is no direct sun,plentiful supply of water at the roots but not in the the rosettes,hence planting on its side if possible,or on a slope.It should look spectacular when established.

well it will certainly get lime in my garden. time will tell. :o)
