Waxwings at the Pond

Waxwings at the Pond

The waxwings were still around but I didn't catch a shot of the crested males. These are both females. Last year the males would come in look around and take a drink, as soon as he drank, a drove of females joined to drink and bath and follow when he left. :-)

Sounds like he has no problems attracting the ladies.

Thanks GG and Shahida. I wish I could have got a better shot. They are wonderful birds. He gave me the impression that they travel in more of a harem, a llead male and many females. :-) I wonder if they all leave him when they settle here to nest.

OMG
I thought this was the head of a hippopatamus, with the birds being it's ears!

Lol...It does look like that, especially the thunbnail. :-) I really wished I could have gotten a better shot. I was so worn out by this time of day. Don't be fooled the sun doesn't set until midnight. :-)
