Has anyone else found any strange petals on their Clematis this year? My C. viticella 'Royal Velour' is just opening its buds, and many of the flowers are partly green. Is this because of the weather?

Should that read 'IF' and not 'WHEN', Owdboggy? :-(
Thanks. I suspected that would be the case. They do look awful. This Clem is usually beautiful!

I wondered if it was a virus. I know they can sometimes cause variegation .... but I hope it's the weather. It might be only a temporary thing if it's the weather.
I haven't noticed it on any of mine.

Some of the buds on mine looked crushed and twisted and the first flowers took ages to colour up from green, but in the end they have all opened normally. All down to this awful weather, I think.

Isn't it a shame. I love 'Royal Velour' for the velvety texture of the petals, as well as the colour. I do hope at least some of the buds open normally.

You're lucky, because it flowers where you are, but here up north it just grows and grows upwards but doesn't flower! :-(

It is certainly weather induced and usually the flowers return to normal when the weather improves.
