First carnation of the year. I started it from seed in January, and with the help of grow lights, it quickly needed to be planted outside.

It has that typical clove scent. It's the greenhouse types that lack the scent. Carnations are a popular flower in Portugal. The April 25th Revolution is called the Carnation Revolution, but few people actually grow them.

A beautiful flower, Wylie! They are my wife's favourite flowers! Just a couple of days ago I finished repotting seedlings of Carnations! Some already have flower buds forming!
