New house, new garden.

We’ve moved! Our landlords unexpectedly decided to sell our village bungalow, so we’ve moved into a house we own a few miles away. I’ve managed to bring about 25 pots with me, some huge, but have had to leave so many plants behind due to lack of space here. The new garden is mainly paved – no lawn – so it’s going to take a lot of imagination. The garden is about 24 ft. × 20ft. but I am going to make the most of it. I shall do some planning over the winter, top up the pots with compost for protection and keep my fingers crossed that the plants survive. My Avatar, The West Wind, is ready to go up on the wall!

Thank you both. It's certainly going to be challenging and very small but I look forward to it. I managed to bring my very heavy trough with a camellia and two big fuschias, though it nearly broke the poor removal men's backs and a few enormous pots with apple trees, agapanthus and various lilies, a couple of clematis and various other plants that I wanted to bring. I've topped the pots up with compost in the hope that they survive the winter as we were very sheltered where we were. I've been looking at all the container ideas I can get my hands on, and small garden ideas so that will keep me busy. Watch this space as they say!

As Lincslass points out, there are lots of small garden ideas to be found. Some of the RHS Chelsea winners might inspire you.
