Birches are gorgeous, a winter treat! When I was a little girl I thought I would help my dad gardening while he was at work so I spent a long time peeling all the 'paper' off the tree until it was nice and smooth! Needless to say my dad wasn't too happy about my 'helping' and I can't remember if the birch survived the winter without bark. :)

Hello Limpet - I must admit I like peeling too, its so nice to see the pure white trunk underneath. Have you seen those gorgeous paper bark maples, just beautiful.
