Thanks! I'll be cutting this back soon, when it's almost done flowering!

Tell me about it! I'm always trying to control it in my customers' gardens. They let it seed at will for years then deceide they don't want it afterall!

It's a tough plant. It'll grow in the lawn (where I DON'T want it), under trees in the shade, in full sun... it doesn't care... No matter if I pull it out of my beds completely, I'm sure to have new sprouts next season.

I've a few in my garden grown from seed, but the ones in the sunny dry border flag easily and aren't as tall as the others....also they look compacted at the base...I would have thought they would like sunny and dry?

Yes, they do best in sun, & my soil here is course sand, which drains quickly. Anywhere out in the brush where I throw deadheaded tops it seems to grow... I guess it's kind of hard to distinguish the plant in that picture - it is compact at the base. There's other stuff growing behind.

I just keep deadheading mine so it will bloom for 3 months, by then it's looking pretty ragged, so I cut the blooming stems off in late September, so I get my money's worth with this one and no reseeding.
