both of the baneberrys are poisonous...roots and berries especially. related to acanthus, a member of the buttercup family...(ranunculaceae) the White Baneberry is Actea pachypoda...also commonly known as "doll's eyes" because they are waxy white with a dark dot. I found a description of the effects of eating the berries..."burning mouth and throat, salivation, severe stomach cramps, headache, dizziness, hallucinations and diarrhea"...It also says that you would have to eat a lot of them to get the severe symptoms..but yuck! I've no interest in handling the seed, either. Have both the red and white but they are in different parts of the property.
