I agree, so exciting to see and look forward to Balc!

Thank you, Kate & Janey! Only a day or two left before the first flower opens! They are high up among the leaves. I'd almost expected a repeat of them being way down, hardly out of the neck of the bulb.

I've discovered they should be treated just like Amaryllis - a couple of months of rest & cold in the autumn & they will flower later! I'm finding that the flower stem (or scape) is growing even faster than on the Amaryllis!

I also have a new Amaryllis bulb - a gift from my son for Christmas! The bud is about 2cms out of the neck so in about a month I will see it flower for the first time! It's also the first I've grown from a new bulb in very many years!

It's good to learn all about the plants you have a passion for Balc, isn't it? Do the Clivua flowers have a scent? Or are they want like the Amaryllis ones?
A new Amaryllis too, will be looking forward to seeing the flowers soon..

Thanks, Janey! Being a man scent is not the first thing on my mind when I see flowers! :D But I don't think it has or I might have noticed when I took a photo of a couple of open flowers this morning to send to my son who gave me the bulbs 5 or 6 years ago.

They did flower once before but the flowers opened way down near the neck of the bulbs. This time they are well up, almost above the foliage which has pleased me a lot!

I'll post a couple of pictures in the next couple of days when more of the individual flowers have opened.
