Tree of Heaven is taking over

Much of the day spent in the garden, weeding the borders and cutting the lawn. The Tree of Heaven is sprouting all over the lawn and between the flower beds. A lovely tree, but seems to get out of control quickly.

My RHS book says it's prone to suckering, so I sympathise. Some advice says that if you keep mowing the shoots in the lawn, eventually the tree will give up! not sure if I believe it...
