I’ve never done this before, so here goes nothing.
Mother nature is not cooperating this year. We love the rain but not this much. Our rain gauge is going to drown. I know this climate is not the same as what I was used to for 50 years back home but enough is enough. I need to learn about this type of climate and what grows good here. Although alot of old timers that have lived here there entire life say it’s not the same. My next goal is to get a Mimosa Tree. They are so beautiful.

Its been awful weather here in Bristol in the U.K as well recently. As gardeners we have to take the'rough with the smooth' as the old saying goes. The earths climate has certainly changed since I was a child.Im not sure if its down to co2 emisssions or part of natures pattern but its not the same as it was.In the meantime happy gardening.
best wishes from Grenville and Alan.

thank you for your responses Irish and Grenville. There is definately changes in the climate. Since we have moved to this area we have seen some terrible icestorms, record tornados and record rainfall and we have only lived here for
less than two years.
I still love it tho, so many new nature things here at least new to me.

Oh lucky you, having some rain! It's been dry here for some time and my water buts are all almost empty. Could someone send some rain to Essex?

Ediegirl,
It will take some getting used to I'm sure, but your area is very nice I had a great Aunt who lived near there. BUT a warning about the Mimosa trees. We have a LOT of them and they are lovely to look at, but DO NOT put them near your driveway, the old flowers fall off or are knocked off by rain storms and make a sticky glob that sticks to cars like glue, and the trees tend to drop sap also!
Because of parking constraints while everyone is home from college I have to park under a Mimosa tree, and my car is covered in dead flowers.YUCK!

Hi Ediegirl... You're not alone with all the rain. It has been the same here in Massachusetts. It sure looks like a wet summer. I agree with Wohlibuli's remarks about the Mimosa trees. I've never seen trees make a mess like these do. They are truly beautiful to look at though.
By the way... did you know that if you pint your mouse arrow on a members avatar that a box will pop up showing where they are located ? In case you didn't know :)

Thank you Mikec, I didn't know that about the avatar!
Learn something new every day!
Well I guess I won't be getting a Mimosa tree, don't think
I want the mess to deal with. I will just have to admire them from afar.

First blog Ediegirl ;o) Must be difficult having that much experience of one climate and then moving to another. We've had plenty of rain here too, it seems to change very quickly at the moment - a week of rain then a week of sun.
