TACKLING THE PAMPASS

I’M SO GLAD A FEW OF YOU HAVE MANAGED TO GET OUT THERE THIS WEEKEND. WE MANAGED A COUPLE OF COLD HOURS ON MONDAY AFTERNOON.
I CUT BACK A BUDDLIEA TO A LOW FRAMEWORK READY FOR THIS YEARS GROWTH, THEN WE TACKLED THE DREADED PINK PAMPASS. MY TRAINEE GARDENER (THE OTHER HALF) FIRST SET IT ALIGHT. THERE WAS LOTS OF DEAD FOLIAGE IN IT WHICH BURNT OFF WELL, THEN HE DUG IT UP WITH SOME DIFFICULTY (I’VE ONLY HAD 2 YEARS BUT IT’S HUGE). WE DIVIDED IT INTO 2 SMALLER CLUMPS & RELOCATED IT WHERE IT SHOULD MAKE A GOOD SCREEN.
THE TOP OF MY BACK GARDEN IS SO WET DESPITE TRYING ALL SORTS OF THINGS TO IMPROVE DRAINAGE, THAT IT’S NOT PLEASANT TO WORK AT THIS TIME OF YEAR & BEING CLAY WHEN IT GETS WARMER IT WILL BE LIKE CONCRETE. DIGGING IN MY GARDEN GIVES YOU A MAJOR WORK OUT! LOADS MORE TO DO AS SOON AS IT DRIES UP A BIT.
