GO FOR IT JACQUE

SOUNDS LIKE A GREAT IDEA IF YOU COULD SET UP A LOCAL CLUB. AS AT ANDREA’S GARDENING FOR FUN CLUB, I WOULD GO FOR THE FUN APPROACH. HANDS ON DEMOS & TIPS & GET EVERYONE INVOLVED IF THEY WANT TO RATHER THAN JUST SITTING LISTENING TO ONE PERSON WHICH TENDS TO BE THE TREND. WE NEED TO MOVE ON FROM THE FUDDY DUDDY IMAGE THAT THESE “CLOSED SOCIETIES” HAVE.
I WOULD LOVE TO DO THE SAME IN MY VILLAGE, I MIGHT START LOOKING INTO IT.
IT WOULD BE FUN TO HAVE PLANT & SEED SWAPS & THERE IS ALWAYS THE POSSIBILITY OF CHARITY EVENTS WITH ALL THE SURPLUS PLANTS WE SOMETIMES HAVE AFTER SOWING ALL THOSE SEEDS.
I HOPE YOU ARE INSPIRED TO DO SOMETHING, KEEP US POSTED.

I totally agree Poppy. Gardening should be fun and it is a 'hands on' activity. Its a case of roll up those sleeves and try it.There are many who are experts, but at the end of the day we need to try things, and if they fail- hopefully we learn from them.
If we had paid professional designers to design our garden we would have spent a fortune. Instead, we designed the garden ourselves and have tried our own ideas and we undertook most of the hard work. The only help came from the comapny who made the faux rockwork and temple folly. Now we have an award winning garden that has received so much publicity. We didnt set out with this in mind, but it has been very rewarding, and hopefully, it demonstates that it can be done.
Setting up a local gardening club and plant exchange sounds superb.Good luck and let us know how you get on.
Best wishes and happy gardening,
Grenville Johnson.
