I should imagine that it depends on where you live in the UK….. !! LOL
Here in the West Mids we’ve had very little rain. I know that the NorthWest has got a hosepipe ban, and my heart goes out to them …. !!
I had visitors yesterday ….and you know the way it goes … !! (Good friends ….good conversation and a few beers here and there ! lol :~))
This is ONE day without ………
I KNOW you can see water in the background …….I thought of this blog half way through ….. ! lol :~)
If anyone is thinking of reporting me to the RSPCP … (Plants !) …. I’ll put one on tomorrow to show that I don’t do it every day !!! lol
Go on ….. admit it …… you’ve done it yourselves and then felt SO guilty … !!! lol :~))

No comment from up here in the sodden soggy NE of Bonnie Scotland. We had an inch and a half of monsoon rain in 3 hours on Sunday and a further half inch yesterday....not sure whether to laugh or cry about that mind you - as I was driving in it. :<<((
However in previous droughts when we did have a ban - I have definitely kept watering as much as poss....but by watering can. Aren't I a smug bug.....LOL

I used to avoid watering during restrictions, just because I felt I shouldn't in a drought situation. What is usually done here is this: odd-numbered houses are allowed to water 3 nights a week after 10 pm, and even-numbered houses get a different 3 nights, also after 10 pm. But then I noticed that my neighbor 3 houses down was watering his grass lawn (!! who cares!!) during the day! And he got away with it! So now I don't care, I will water during the restricted periods on my allowed days.
We were lucky and had a major rainstorm yesterday, which broke our heatwave temporarily. More is expected today, yay!

Just remembered a famous drought we had up here back in the 50's and it caused hosepipe bans and car washes were not allowed etc - fines etc if seen!
We had a MASSIVE hydrangea which took up the the whole front of the house.
It started to wilt and looked like we would lose it....so my father poked a hose pipe out of one of the windows of the basement and let it seep and drip 24/7 until the drought broke many weeks later!!!
Nobody ever noticed that wee bit of hose-pipe and within three or four days that enormous shrub was sitting up again nicely :~)))) What is more - all these years later that huge hydrangea is still there!!!!!

I'm SO sorry if I didn't make myself clear ..... what I meant by being naughty was not watering when your mates come round, accompanied by alcohol, and the thought of doing it goes completely out of your head .... !! LOL ;~))

I have done exactly the same thing B8 ... a little bit of a vodka haze completely blinded me from the fact that it had NOT rained that day & all the pots were gasping! Went to the butt only to find it empty so had to fill it from the tap & use it from there!
No - one noticed tho' & I got away with it! :o))

I don't usually forget to water my plants in containers but I do admit that occasionally in the evening I just can't be bothered! I feel guilty by morning though and go and water them then. :o)
Never mind Sandra, the best time to have a hosepipe ban is when it's raining, who cares!

I agree with Fluff, I use watering cans and add Miracle Grow. I figure if I get caught I'd just tell them it's 'gray water' and figure the blue would convince them. BTW 'gray water' is the water from camping trailers that comes from the sink or the shower provided you use biodegradable soap.

I live in Peterborough...Anglian Water has said that there will be no hosepipe ban here, so I have been watering the plants that needed it most, and not feel guilty at all, I am on water meter. We have rain today, so everything are looking happy again. :)))) for now...
