Yesterday afternoons transformation..

Yesterday afternoon I decided to change the back area of my pond so that I can lay down some weed surpressent membrane so that I can gravel the area to match the rest of the area.

From this..

To this..

Then, I decided to use the stone bricks/blocks from behind the pond to construct a raised bed/ retaining wall to extend my rockery/waterfall area so that I could plant bigger plants infront of my waterfall area.

This is the filter area before..

And this is it after the walls construction..

It is! Thankyou! I just have to get stuck in when I see things that I can change!!

Nice pond but can I make a suggestion....
It seems a shame that the course of the waterfall from the filter is hidden from view and you would be able to see it much better if it was turned around to start on the back area that you've just cleared. And the filtration tank could tuck in between the waterfall and the fence to be a little less visible.

Just a thought! Feel free to tell me to mind my own business!

Thankyou for the suggestion urbanite! It would be a little too long to behind the pond, it used to be there and it didn't work out too well! Soon the tree besides the stream/ waterfall will be cut down!

As I said it was just a thought that it would be nice to see the water coming down the watercourse when you're in the garden. I guess the fish don't mind where it comes from!

I've looked at some of your pics from last year and can see that the middle section of the watercourse is curved, so it probably wouldn't turn round as I was thinking.

I do think though that you should screen off the filter tank - not the prettiest of things to have next to your nice pond. Either tallish plants or a light bamboo stick screen or trellis that climbers can grow up, maybe plant pots on top with trailing plants.

I can't see what the tree/tall shrub is but I might leave it - thin it out, prune it back and rejuvenate it, rather than dig it out (unless it's causing problems)

Thankyou! There's some plants now planted infront of my filter box and I'm going to give the tree/bush a good cut properly to open out the stream

I look forward to seeing it progress - though I read in one of your blogs that you were moving so you may not get the reward for your effort on this pond.
