Anyone have experience installing Outdoor CCTV?

I’m reasonably techie with computers, etc. but can’t drill through walls or window frames so battery powered WiFi cameras are necessary. I have a spare laptop I could use as a dedicated recorder if necessary. I only really need two good cameras & my budget is fairly tight so buying parts rather than a whole system may be better if it’s cheaper
