to collect for your Compost Bin. (by a local forester)
Place a large piece of cardboard on the lawn. In the morning check it and remove the Red Worms to the bin.
Now, why didnt we think of that before !
He says it works most of the year, except when its frosty.

I have been having a Grand Compost Bin Tidy Up. Have removed all thick waste to strong Sainsbury's garden waste bags, and spiked them to let the air in. Then put all the soft stuff mixed with shredded newspaper back into the bins and watered, as Worms need moisture to lubricate their bodies. I bought a Car Top Protector which was no good because the wind blew it out of the windscreen wipers in the night - its windy up here. So have wrapped it round one Compost Bin and tied with baling string.
Going down tomorrow to wrap the other one with an old Ground Sheet, so all my Worms should be warmer this winter!
Who says there is nothing to do on the garden this time of year?

Not me Diane, this is my busiest time of year every year as I always find a major project that 'desperately needs doing now' in November! I've a huge pile of horrid clay in my garden that I am uplifting in bags to the dump! I hardly found a single worm in the whole border and am thinking I might buy some from "wigglywotsits" to put in the newly aerated bed! My wormery is empty just now as well and I could get that started again...but probably wait till spring as a bad winter can really kill them off I find.
