I have now found 3 Clematis

that I thought had been killed off by the winter cold are
still alive and making new growth. Just have to buy one new one .
Have put a note on my calendar for the end of October to remember to fleece them this year.
Surprising how illness can cause so much damage.
But Mother Nature is stronger than we think she is.

that is good news Diane. I am still noticing what hasn't appeared after the winter damage. Clematis rarely die at the roots unless waterlogged for long periods of time.

I agree as long as they are buried deep they come up eventually even when there is nothing to see on top plenty going on underneath. One thing I have learnt is they can be put to close to walls/fences and this some of them do not like for long.

I never seem to have any luck with clematis. I have bought 3 montanas and none of them have done well. I keep seeing pictures of other peoples montanas romping away and feel so envious. One of them is showing signs of life at the bottom, so I live in hope!

I had 3 in the ground that survived. 2 in pots that I am still watching for signs of life. Lisam I have seen Montana growing up the sides of a 2 storey house in Scotland. Including the chimney.
Nellie Moser is flowering as if nothing has happened . Mr. Moser was the gardener and Nellie was his daughter.
The President is a beautiful lone flower so far but alive !
The other one was here when I moved in 20 years ago.
Has flowered beautifully all these years. Glad its still with me.
Good to put reminders on the calendar. Its difficult to
remember everything over a year.

Hi Diane, glad to hear that your plants have survived, and are growing well for you, Derek.
