getting the height right in boarders

This is not one of my strong points. I am ok when it comes to growing flowers. But the very mention of a conifer or some sort of plant which comes up every year, and gets bigger I need advice. Since I have been on Goy ,I think I have learnt a lot about heights in boarders .what should be planted in certain areas, And I have taken all this on board. So I have rearanged my garden boarders so they will fill up and look good for the years ahead. Every year I look at my garden(as I am sure you all do) And I say to my partner this year is the best this garden will look.
Sorry about that photo very blurrie
So I would like to say thank you to you all for all the advice Donna

Your garden is looking Beautifull Donnah, isn't this time of year so exciting, all the new growth coming through new plans and the birds singing, could be a bit warmer tho :)) And leaf texture and colour is very important since i started my tropical border, thats why i love garden forums, Iv'e learned soooo much...

Paul's fine Donnah but was already taken when picking a user name for GOY so as I'm a gardener and always introduce myself as that when I telephone my customers, I plumped for that! When will it be finished? No not even then. They last longer than us don't they?

O Great Paul I am sinking into a large depression LOL

I don't think I would want to last as long as an oak! And I certainly wouldn't want to be a Conifer. They aren't always the most popular of plants are they? Depending where they are planted of course.

It's certainly looking beautiful and very established, Donnah. It's hard to imagine it looking better.
I think with heights of plants, it's very difficult to have things looking exactly as we want them all the time as plants all grow at different rates and not always as the books tell us, so as all gardeners know, the garden is never finished and we all change things around, don't we? You're making a splendid job and no doubt, thoroughly enjoying it. Which is what it's all about, afterall. Lovely blog and photos!
