Christmas Roses

The lawn is like a lump of lead, Your garden has beEn put to bed & you have locked the potting shed. The snow has just begun to fall, The world is wrapped in winter’s pall. There are no signs of life at all. When, like a star which shines at night, That miracle of green & white— A Christmas Rose creeps into sight: A lonely herald of the Spring,Of happy birds that nest & sing, Of butterflies upon the wing, Of fairies dancing in a ring —And all that sort of thing. R. Arkell.

If anyone is a fan of Les Miserable try saying that poem to the beat of music that runs through the musical - it fits perfectly. Sorry for being off-topic but we have just come home from watching the movie for the second time and the music is still thundering through my head!

Can't answere that for you, Sticki. The stage musical has never been to my part of the world so I have not seen it. I thought I knew what Les Mis was all about but after leaving the cinema the first time (last Saturday) I was thinking what the h... was that all about!!!! I spent the following few days doing web research including watching the 10th anniversary concert and came to some sort of understanding. Following that, this Saturdays viewing was fantastic and very enjoyable. The movie follows the the stage musical pretty faithfully and provides a fullness and a few links that you would not get on stage. But yes, Sticki, go and watch it - it is good.
