Astilbes
Genus: Astilbe.
Species: Astilbe rubra.
Not sure which variation of the Astilbe I have.... the border has pink, white and red ones.... in a very cloying clay soil that waterlogs. No matter what my husband has done it still swills with water in the winter (and this summer too!)
The Astilbe come up every time, lovely leaves, fab flowers which I leave on until the following spring. They look great in the frost.
