Centaurea 'Amethyst in snow'

Genus: Centaurea.

Species: Centaurea montana.

Tested perrenial from a local supplier. From six inch pot, it doubled in size and that was a cold short summer. I've read it is invasive in some areas, and am glad to have it contained in a raised bed, though I think it will need to be divided every other year or sooner, perhaps even every spring. Large 3 inch white outer petals with purple center petals. I found it continued blooming if I removed spent blooms. Flowers last a week or two. It did not seem to like the damp and much of the undergrowth seemed to rust out. I expect a big show with a hot summer.
