Bears scented blue flowers with yellow beards in Spring and early summer above bright green leaves striped with pale golden yellow.
Well, bought this and two other varieties of iris from Millrace Nurseries. Wasn't at all happy with the state of them once out of the pots - most of the roots were rotten, but rather than take them back thought I'd take up the gauntlet and try to nurse them back to life.
They seem to be doing ok at the moment. Have never raised irises before, so quite excited at the prospect. My mother used to grow them when I was a child, so should be quite nostalgic. They are placed between some lavender and a rose, so will need the height they are supposed to achieve. Says on the description that this species will grow up to 120cms - that'll be some sight!
