Genus: Persicaria.
Species: Persicaria capitata 'Afghan'.
Otherwise known as 'Pink bubbles'. A lively plant that happily scrambles everywhere, sun or shade, and I love it. The heartshaped leaves have a neat purplish chevron across them. It only grows to about 4 ins. high. Although It dies back in the winter to a messy tangle of wiry brownish red stems it reappears in late spring, and there have been some years when it has retained some of its foliage throughout the winter.
