Vincible's Garden
Purple Bell Vine
Genus: Rhodochiton.
Species: Rhodochiton atrosanguineum (Rhodochiton).
I bought the original seeds for this climber four years ago. Since them I've been harvesting the seeds and keeping them going. It's not a well know plant but very elegant and flowers very generously. No scent, but can't have everything. I grow it on a south-facing balcony but its also good on fences or hanging baskets and grows well indoors at a sunny window too.
Seeds are easy to collect from the paper lantern that follows after the flower. If the lantern is dry and ripe, then just open it and shake out a hundred tiny seeds. They keep quite well too. I pop them in an envelope until I sow them the next year.
