Gomphrena leontopodioides ‘Empress’ is a new Australian native cultivar that will add year round colour to a patio or garden. It was found near Longreach in central western Queensland.
It produces masses of globular purple flower heads which remain on the plant for months, contrasting nicely with its grey-green
foliage.
Plants grow to about 30 x 40cm. ‘Empress’ is drought
tolerant once established and tolerates light frosts. It is highly versatile, ideal for mass plantings, rockeries, borders, cottage gardens or containers, flowering
up to 12 months of the year.
