Greenthumb's Garden
Wild: High-bush Cranberry
Genus: Viburnum.
Species: Viburnum edule.
Wild in the upper hills beneath the deciduous trees, this cranberry is a handing vitamin C source as the berries hang on much of winter. I juice the berries to get a really nice syrup that brings to mind summer when used anytime in winter. I love that. No pectin, so if you are trying to make a jelly pectin must be added or you can cross it with another fruit with high pectin. Not thick with green, it is more stately and tall.
