Large-cupped daffodils have flowers with the large central trumpet replaced by a large, open, flattened or wavy cup. 'Ice Follies' is a popular variety with a soft yellow flattened cup set against a clear white perianth of outer petals. Although sometimes forced in January for early cutting, and also grown as pot plant for display, it is a fine variety for massing in borders, parts of the lawn or under trees. As with all popular varieties, different-sized bulbs are available and the largest is the one to buy for maximum impact in its first season. The Royal Horticultural Society has given it its Award of Garden Merit (AGM).
