Red hot poker (Kniphofia caulescens)

Genus: Kniphofia.

Species: Kniphofia caulescens.

* 31 Jan 2011. 6 for GBP2.00 from Morrisons.
* March 2012, rescued some plants by Hillcrest Court (they were dumped)

The leaves of this variety die off in winter, but rather than clearing them away in autumn it is a good idea to leave them until spring, to protect the crowns for winter - at least for the first year or two while plants get well established.
