At 406m above sea level in Corfu's north east, Old Perithia, whilst it has an abundance of flora and fauna, is also home to a select number of trees, plants and flowers most suited to the region. Not the best height for olives but a wonderful variety of fruit trees and wild herbs and plants you can use in cooking. For example 'horta' a favourite dish on the island.
Our garden, which we only planted last year, is evolving to include some of these many local and often wild flowers and plants. We started with lavender borders...
and, over the coming months, will post picture of plants both at home and in the surrounding countryside.
