Melchisedec's Garden

Golden Rod

Genus: Solidago.

Species: Solidago.

I have several clumps of this. A couple of them are very tall - 6' or so. It is covered with bees when in flower, so I would not get rid of it although it gets a bit untidy and forms large clumps. I tried the "Chelsea chop" last year, but - as with the sedum - I felt it delayed the flowers too much for the bees to get full benefit from them. When the clumps get too unruly, I pull the outside stems off.
