Mrs. Macnamara has a certain cachet having originated with the mother-in-law of Dylan Thomas. It is an elegant, tall and slender, single marked variant of elwesii; well proportioned and a very handsome plant indeed.
It is noted as a reliable early flowerer and, along with Faringdon Double and Jack Mead, is in flower in the first week in January even in cold Northern Scotland. Highly recommended and likely to be a favourite of all who come to own it.

After being in contact with the family of the lady for whom this snowdrop was named it would appear that we have been spelling her name incorrectly; it should be Mrs Macnamara, not Mrs McNamara.
