Allium siculum
Genus: Nectaroscordum.
Species: Nectaroscordum siculum.
a stately plant for the wild garden or herbaceous border which is closedly related to Allium. the leaves have a distinct keel along their length, and in late spring the tall leafless stems appear. from the top of these stems the flowers hang down on thin stalks. as the seed pods form the stalks stiffen and turn upwards, so that the seed head has a shuttlecock like appearance.
height 4ft - full sun - any well drained soil - divide mature clumps in autumn when overcrowding becomes a problem.
