Description: Miniature bulrush, with narrow reed-like foliage and short, stumpy brown heads in summer.

Tips: Leave plants standing as late as possible in autumn and winter for the shapes and bulrush seed-heads.

An aquatic perennial with slender, grass-like leaves topped with spikes of short, squat, brown flowers in mid- and late summer. This miniature bulrush is perfect for a small pool or a half barrel container. Best planted in 2.5-10cm (1-4in) of water in full sun, the dried flower spikes are ideal for flower arranging.

Garden care: Lift and divide congested clumps in spring.
