This makes handsome, low, ground cover, with spoon-shaped leaves that have crisply-toothed edges. The leaves are dark green with a prominent, greenish white central vein. This handsome and distinctive foliage is further enlivened by clusters of rose pink flowers borne on red stalks in the spring. It works best when poked into difficult corners and nooks, as long as it doesn't have too much competition from herbaceous plants, as these may overwhelm it.
Flowers: March - June
numerous, quaint, tall, hairy flower-stalks bearing panicles of small flowers. Each of the five small white petals is dotted with red, and towards the centre of the flower with yellow; whilst the erect white stamens are terminated by terra- cotta coloured anthers.
Evergreen : yes
Care:should be lifted and replanted every third or fourth year.
