My parents have never cared about the condition of the soil, either acid or alkaline, but they've been doing very well in keeping plants of the azalea family growing superbly in Japan.

I have a confession to make. I put the innocent little one up there as a garnish(!?), forcefully. Sorry mate, must have been uncomfortable.

Beautiful, I would guess their soil is acid Tommymoo, is this 2 azaleas? have they been trained or should I go to Specsavers? Love the kitten:-)

One azalea. My father trims it every year (once or twice / year), but it was initially trained. Their soil has never been tested. Maybe I should test it one day, very interested to know ~.

This is so lovely Tommy, can't get over the stunning colour of the Azalea,or the kitten cat-napping on top! This has got to be acid soil. The Acer is amazing too! My soil alkaline, so either of the above plants I can only have in pots as they would fail in my garden :~((
