Sorry folks, I made a mistake - this is not from my balcony but from the street below it - you can just about see the pomegranate and fir tree in the pots on the right. There are different colours each evening from this spot. I'm no great photographer (although I proudly say that I have recently taken the courage to learn about downloading and using card readers etc. grrr) but there are times, very early in the morning and at twilight, when you would like to press a pause button to immortalise soul stirring moments.

The light of Italy seems somehow different than in most parts of the world...there is a golden quality that I hope to see first hand...someday.

I agree with you Lori, there really is something special about the magic of Italy, especialy these medieval hilltop towns. In fact our house was built in 1557 and my kitchen is what used to be the stables!

I just love that.... History all around you... cooking in the stables! Are you in the Penines, is there a village named Anchiano near you?

Anchiano is about a two hour drive North from us and is apparently where Leonardo da Vinci's house is - must go there one day - thanks for pointing the place out Lori
