This hybridized Serrano variety boasts fruit that is twice the size and two to three weeks earlier than the original. This small bushy plant has the distinctive hairy leaves and is a prolific producer of cylindrical shaped 3-3 1/2" fruits that mature from dark green (55 days) to scarlet red (75 days) The peppers are fleshy and meaty with the unique Serrano flavor so popular in Mexican cuisine. Measuring about 5,000 Scoville units, they are about the same pungency as a jalapeƱo, and are quite versatile for sauces, salsas, or flavoring. Origin: Mexico. PI: 640873
Scoville units: 5,000-8000.
