These are the lovely black seeds, maybe you can drill them for beads!... good luck..let me know how you make out?

Hmmm... good question... I thought that they came from India...but I've read that they are native to the Caribbean...and I've actually seen a picture of damage done to a plywood board when they were used as shot! bears more investigation, for sure.

Thanks for the post Lori :) I haven't pick mine off yet. Can you also sow the seeds? Probably better to just divide plants, huh?

Apparently the seeds are iffy germinators...If I was in your climate I'd certainly try it, just as an experiment. But you're right the best way is to take up the rhizomes let the soil dry, brush it off, and store them in a cool dry place. cut the rhizomes into 2 eye pieces just before replanting in February.
