Luna moth

On our porch this evening. "In Canada and northern regions, they can live up to 7 days and will produce only one generation per year. Most commonly seen at night."

It was about 6 " across the wingspan (15 cm).

Yes, it is unusual, Toto, apparently they're quite rare, according to my son the wildlife biology professor, who has only ever seen one himself, and that was at Green Bay, about 5 miles from here, when he was 11....
