Had a 3 hour power failure last night. The background light is from the city of Adelaide 54 KM away.

Power failure? Yes, we got 1mm of rain (since December) then the lights went out. To be fair the wind came up and there were trees down everywhere.

Wow cities really do light up the night sky! Power failures are quite common where I live too Jeremy - we get one every month or so out here.
