Garlic does need a cold period to kick start it into growing here in the UK.

Hi Homebird, i think i am right in saying, for Autumn planted Garlic, that it needs a cold spell. You can also plant garlic in spring to much success, but i have had better results Autumn planting. I get my Garlic every year from "The Garlic Farm" on the Isle of Wight. Check them out. www.thegarlicfarm.co.uk/
