Aha! Mine was in a little wire basket...suspended ..no earth or compost of course. It hung in my bathroom and got its daily shower with me!! It did beautifully for a year or so - then I THINK on one occasion I popped it into its usual basin of warm water and there must have been a residue of something in the basin that I didn't know about or remember - as it then dropped its flowers and leaves pronto...end of Vanda!! I've wondered about trying again but haven't had the nerve! I was looking for my pic of my one - but can't find it.

It was an interesting talk on Vandas he showed them in tall glass vases with a little water to keep roots green ,since it was an orchid show .
But went on to say you have to remember to empty the vase of water then every 3or 4th day add a little water again and only keep in water for a short time and then discard.
I really did want to try a vanda but at £25 if it was not a success for now no.
They dont like the cold but yes think bathroom would be a good place .
Two mine are in my onsuite and of course humidity using the shower.

Used to have a blue Vanda like that but it gave up the ghost after the first year! I think I was too kind to it..they seem to thrive better on neglect..well the rest of mine do!
