Thanks Scotkat - it's a stunner, love the colours and the structure of it. Yes I can see it's been raining again - wish we could swap weather for a day!

Hi Scotkat...I can see why you couldn't say no that orchid! It is MOST attractive and I like your description, Bernieh.
Do you have a lot of orchids Scotkat?
I can't resist them either - just as well I don't go to shows these days - as it is - you need a machete to hack your way into my house for plants of all kinds everywhere...LOL

I have 1 cymbidium ,1zygopetlaum which I split on Sunday and now have 2:)
My new one and 5 Phalenopsis .
So not a lot of orchids but starting to get to that stage cant resist .
Even yesterday bought an umbrella plant to put into conservatory .
I saw it in Forfar yesterday and it was so dry but had a nice shape and thought I could feed it get it healthy again .
Which I did when got it home and its now outdoors in pouring rain so not dry anymore.

Know the feeling!! I keep adding to my orchid collection - mostly Phalaenopsis..I've actually lost count of those - and a couple of Dendrobium and Oncidium. For some reason I am not good with Cymbidium....they never flower again..so got the heave!!! I have two broad window sills of them - one when they are in flower - in the kitchen and the other in an alcove where they "rest" and surprise me - there is always some new stem appearing!
You've set me off again...must head for the garden centre and see what is going. However today is "dunk and drain" day ....LOL

Carol so fed up with this rain.
The chap said you have to not pot up but give new orchid compost every 2yrs .
And should us how to do it ,take orchid out of pot and give a shake to loosen old bark.
Then discard old roots if they are not green then freshen up with new bark and give a good soak.
And yes today its pouring of rain here a complete change from yesterday.
