Magnolias

In spite of looking very different, both of these trees are magnolias ... the pink one is the Vulcan Magnolia, but I have forgotten the name of the white one. Both are frequently seen in NZ gardens & are just lovely at this time of year. A big mound of the inevitable Agapanthus growing close by.

I took this photo this morning in the garden of a friend, in between visiting two garden centres in the area. Was thinking I should put a magnolia somewhere in our garden too. I do like this more unusual white one, but have spoted a lovely new one just recently developed in NZ, called Genie (photo being put up). It would look lovely planted near this white one .... so that would mean two magnolias in our garden! Thankgoodness my OH has just decided not to take over a large area of our back garden for a vegetable patch!
