More to the point, are they poisonous?

29 Oct, 2011

Inedible...and poisonous, they will make you unwell but not kill you...

I may pick one tomorrow and do spore a test and a cut test. There is a doubt I have that it could be Leccinum versipelle or Orange Birch Bolete Which is edible. If in doubt leave them alone.

Spore/cut test?

29 Oct, 2011

Fungi have different coloured spores some are Dark others light. Simply place the cap gill side down on a black paper and a white paper for a few hours and it will leave a "spore shadow".

Again fungii react differently when cut, some stay white some go pink ,black , blue, red or even green. All of which help identify what it is.
