Just what I was thinking, Daisy, but I think I would be tempted to terrace the slope. Might be a drainage problem, especially with the winters you have over there Gillian.

lovely big deck there Gillian, fencing is great and a blank canvas to work on fab, only downside i think is the grassy bank at the top of yor garden..
